Notes that folks have been kind enough to write at the conclusion of a parish mission, retreat or day of prayer

“God’s Spirit truly spoke through you! Our family was so blessed to have you visit our parish once more. May the Lord continue blessing you!”

“Thank you for helping me open my eyes.”

“I can say that your presentations changed my life and I have become more aware of what God is calling me to do with my life.”

“Thanks. Don’t stop.”

“Thank you! It’s been a great week with a lot of ‘take aways.’ I love your warm and loving perspective of God’s love. Safe travels.”

“Your program was (is) very inspiring, and you are very much like I would imagine Jesus was. Pray for me as I will for you.”

“Thank you for another awesome mission!”

“Thank you for all the love you bring to so many people.”

“Thank you for a wonderful mission. I’m 82 years old, Catholic all my life. You are the first priest I have gone to confession to that I felt that I was in the real presence of Jesus. Thank you so much for the peace I now feel.”

“Thank you for all the help you gave me. You gave me so much hope, and also resources. I know that [my son] will find his way out of his hole.”

“Thank you for what you do and for the message of hope. We are blessed by the work you do.”

“You gave me plenty to think about. My plate is full and I need to digest all your good ingredients to nourish my soul. I thank you.”

“I am truly so thankful to God that you answered His call, and do the ministry that you do so well! I have come to your missions at Holy Cross for years, have bought and worn out your CDs, and am so grateful for the blessings you have given me in my life! I am truly a better person for knowing you! They don’t come any better than you!”

“You have really helped me in so many ways. My wife of 34 years recently died of Alzheimer’s disease. She was only 60 and it was a 7-year journey. So this mission is just what I needed at this time. Thank you for your kindness. God bless.”

“Flowers are the smiles of God. God smiles in varied hues. And when I look into your eyes, my eyes see God in you.”

“Thank you again for an inspiring mission. Over the years that you have been coming to Christ the King Parish you have changed my spiritual life so much. I will be forever grateful to you.”

(written two months after the parish mission) “Just want you to know that your mission with us lingers on and is nourishing our souls. I am grateful to you for calling us to love the earth and to welcome the marginalized. Your gifts of prayer and song have lightened our burdens and enlightened our minds and hearts. We ‘sing on!’”

(included with a donation) "I'm out of work -- two years now. Bills still come due. I'm glad I could attend this retreat. My offering, even though small, may be of help. Thanks."

"After your presentation last night I was at Barnes and Noble and a woman walked past me talking on her cell phone telling someone about the talk she just heard at Christ the King. At an A.A. meeting this a.m. a woman talked about how meaningful your talk was for her as a person in recovery. Another person (non-Catholic) told me his friend called him today about how much your talk and thoughts meant to him, and he may come tonight. I am with them!"

“Thank you, Fr. Foley. We will go into Lent with your message in mind. Your work is needed and you are well suited for this. We pray your energy holds up for many years.”

“It was a real joy to have you here. You are a true breath of fresh air – thanks for all you do to keep God’s message going and for being an inspiration to many.”

(included with a donation) “You are worth more, but I am unemployed. God bless you.”

“We are lucky to have someone so knowledgeable giving these inspirational sermons. Hopefully we will have you back again soon. You are a wonderful speaker and you do a great presentation.”

“You are very talented. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and talent!”

“I really enjoyed your mission. I am going through a really difficult period and slowly getting through it with God’s help. Your mission helped me through some pretty dark days. You will be in my prayers.”

“Thank you so much for a great mission. I have always believed God to be a loving God. Thank you for agreeing.”

“Thank you very much for these enlightening sessions. I came on Monday feeling quite anxious mentally because a lot has happened in my life in the last two years. I was at the point of doubting God’s love for me, and the purpose of my existence. I am glad to say that your teachings have not only encouraged me, but I feel rejuvenated as I start Lent. There is some focus in my life, and hope, not despair.”

(included with a donation) “Great three days – thank you. Sorry I can’t give you more, but unemployed since last May”

“What an inspirational mission – it has been a blessing during this Lenten journey. Your words have been both consoling and encouraging.”

“Throughout my life I have frequently heard 'God loves you.' I am not sure I ever truly felt this as strongly as I do now. Unconditional love – what a beautiful gift.”

(from a pastor) “Many thanks and blessings for leading us on this pilgrimage in the past week. You’re always welcome here. Be assured of our prayers.”

“Thank you for the ‘down to earth’ spiritual and meaningful mission.”

“Thank goodness you said ‘Yes’ when God called you to this ministry.”

“Thank you for presenting such wonderful insights into the life of Jesus! We enjoy your retreats very much.”

“Thanks again for another great mission. You do an outstanding job!”

“I appreciate especially the quiet prayer times you taught us.”

“I am a Buddhist nun and loved all you said – so like the Dalai Lama.”

“You are a very special priest!”

“Thank you very much for your inspiring retreat. You helped me with some serious problems with my grown daughter.”

(from a pastor) “Food for the journey. Thanks – you were a great hit. Let’s keep in touch. God bless.”

“Thank you for this very special retreat. You are truly filled with the Holy Spirit! What a great inspiration you are!”

“I really enjoyed the mission and hope that you come back again next year. This has been the first time that I have actually looked forward to going to church. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience.”

“You spoke to my heart. You addressed an issue that has been a struggle in my life in the past couple of years. As I listened, I realized that I was meant to hear your words.”

“What a true blessing it was to spend time with you. We pray that you are able to continue your mission work for years to come!”

“Thank you for a great Holy Week retreat!”

(from a pastor) “Our community of Easter believers will soar to new heights because of your dynamic presence. You gave me a boost too!”

“My 10-year-old grandson (like many contemporary youngsters or oldsters) often belly-aches when he has to go to Mass on Sunday. After your homily last Sunday, he leaned over and said, ‘Granddad, I really like that guy.’ I’m sure it had nothing to do with his admiration for a fellow Irishman. At any rate, his judgment and honesty is a true testament to the effective way in which you profess the Word of God. You never fail to touch our minds and hearts with God’s light. Hope to see you again next year.”

“I really enjoyed your four talks. God gave you a special gift – I’m pleased you are using it to help others.”
